PASI's OBJECTIVES

The history of the Polish Association for Spatial Information is long extending over 30 years. In 1970, the Club of IT Users in Surveying and Mapping was established in the framework of the Head Organisation of Technology and functioned successfully some 20 years. As a result of growing needs and new objectives, the Club was reorganised adopting the present PASI's name.

The mission statement of this interdisciplinary Association is to promote the harmonious development of spatial information systems (GIS/LIS) and to raise awareness about geoinformation in Poland.

Its practical objectives are:

  • to organise conferences, seminars and workshops,
  • to organise competitions in GIS/LIS development,
  • to inform about progress in spatial IT,
  • to promote co-operation among PASI's members,
  • to co-operate with public and privat organisations interested in GIS/LIS development.

The Association organises its annual conferences on Spatial Information Systems in co-operation with the General Board of the Association of Polish Surveyors which offers its organisational framework.
